"The Jonah Boyd Finnegan Story"

INTRODUCTION

Life in Ireland in the late 1800’s was less than desirable. Famine, war, destruction and family units were in a tremendous place of suffering. During the period of 1845 -51 the population declined with many dying from hunger or disease, taking many lives.

It was at this time that many people of Ireland would escape the desolation by fleeing to places such as Britain, Canada and the U.S.  History has it this massive event would be known as the great Diaspora of Ireland.

In 1841 there were approximately 8 million Irish descendants. Since then, that number has fallen to a record low of 4.2 million. This life in Ireland threatened the legacy of the Irish people. This era, hit the Irish hard.

"Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him."

James 1:12
